HARPER, Kan. (AP) — A Kansas man was shot and injured by a police officer after a battle over a knife, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation stated Saturday.
Kenneth Smith, 61, was shot Friday by a Harper police officer at an condominium complicated. He underwent surgical procedure and was in good and secure situation, the KBI stated.
The officer responded to the condominium complicated after police obtained a report of a person damaging property at an condominium complicated in Harper, which is about 50 miles southwest of Wichita.
Smith was holding a knife and struggled with the officer, who sprayed Smith with pepper spray, in response to a preliminary report.
Smith was shot as soon as in the arm when he superior towards the officer with the knife, the KBI stated.
