LONDON — Vanity Fair’s former fashion director Michael Roberts, The Telegraph’s trend director Lisa Armstrong, and the British Beauty Council’s Millie Kendall and Helena Grzesk — alongside U.S. Open winner Emma Raducanu, Olympic gold medal diver Tom Daley and “007” actor Daniel Craig — are amongst 1,122 Britons acknowledged within the annual New Year Honors record, which is compiled and issued by the British authorities.
The awards are handed out throughout the 12 months by Queen Elizabeth II and members of the royal household.
Roberts acquired a Commander of the Order of the British Empire, or CBE, whereas Armstrong was given an Officer of the Order of the British Empire, or OBE, each for his or her providers in trend.
Kendall and Grzesk, who function chief govt officer and chief working officer, respectively, on the British Beauty Council, had been acknowledged with an OBE and an MBE for his or her providers to the hair and wonder business.
“This award signifies a change in how our sector is viewed and an appreciation of not just my work but the monumental efforts of the British Beauty Council and its partners in affecting that change,” stated Kendall.
“This award is a demonstration of the positive steps forward we have taken in being recognized as a global leader in innovation and education,” Grzesk added.

Raducanu, who landed a Dior ambassadorship in October, has been awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire, or MBE, for her providers to tennis. She is the primary British feminine winner of a Grand Slam tennis event since Virginia Wade received Wimbledon in 1977.
“This year has been full of amazing surprises for me so to end 2021 with this appointment is very special,” stated Raducanu after the record of honorees was revealed.
Daley was given an OBE for his providers to diving, LGBTQ rights and charity.
“I’m extremely proud to be honored with an OBE and it feels like a responsibility to make the whole Commonwealth a better place for LGBTQ people, for women, for people of color,” Daley instructed the BBC. “In accepting this OBE, it’s now my responsibility to try and help create change, and help create this environment where anyone can be who they want, no matter where they came from.”
Craig was given the uncommon Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George, an honor often reserved for prime spies and diplomats, for his contribution to movie and theater. The recognition is a nod to the character Craig has portrayed for the final 15 years within the James Bond collection.
“Absolutely Fabulous” star Joanna Lumley, who already holds an OBE awarded in 1995, was made a Dame for her campaigning on behalf of the Gurkhas in addition to her work in tv and movie. She is the daughter of a Gurkha Rifles officer and he or she has been preventing for the rights of Gurkha veterans to settle within the U.Okay. for many years.
“I am astonished and thrilled and touched beyond words to receive this colossal honor. It comes as a complete and unexpected surprise and is the kindest and most beautiful present imaginable,” Lumley stated.
Professor Chris Whitty, chief medical officer for England, was bestowed a knighthood, together with a handful of different figures who’ve performed pivotal roles in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic, together with deputy medical officer for England Jonathan Van-Tam, and Scotland and Wales’ chief medical officers Gregor Smith and Frank Atherton.
In the tradition sphere, Sadler’s Wells’ creative director Alistair Spalding was awarded a knighthood for providers to bop. Wigmore Hall’s creative director John Gilhooly was honored with a CBE for providers to music. The Spice Girls’ Melanie Brown was made an MBE for her work with the home violence charity Women’s Aid.
