Myth of Empires, a technique sandbox game that lately rocketed to recognition on Steam, has been delisted from Valve’s storefront following a DMCA takedown declare by the studio behind Ark: Survival Evolve. Ark’s builders say Myth of Empires makes use of code copied from Ark, and Myth of Empires’ developer, Chinese studio Angela Game, has vehemently denied the accusation.

Myth of Empires is at present unavailable on Steam, following a DMCA takedown request filed by Studio Wildcard December 1. In the request, Studio Wildcard says Myth of Empires seems to make use of supply code copied from Ark: Survival Evolved. Studio Wildcard, the criticism says, “became understandably concerned” about potential copyright infringement in November, when it seen “large-scale similarities between Ark: Survival Evolved and Myth of Empires.”

PCGamesN has obtained a copy of the DMCA takedown request. “This similarity extended to features that could not be explained through independent development, such as the use of identical gameplay mechanics not found in other games,” it reads. The studio says its evaluation of the headers for the 2 video games’ executable recordsdata revealed “hundreds of matching ‘class,’ ‘variable,’ and ‘function’ names.”

Studio Wildcard hooked up some of its evaluation to the criticism, and the exhibit certainly reveals matching and equally named variables within the two video games’ recordsdata – together with references in Myth of Empires’ code to ‘Primal’ mod game knowledge, which it says is particular to Ark: Survival Evolved.

Angela Game, for its half, has utterly denied the allegations. In an update posted to the Myth of Empires web site, the studio says it ‘solemnly declares’ that “Angela Game fully owns all rights and property associated with Myth of Empires and will actively respond to any doubts or allegations on this point. We are in active contact with Steam and are doing our best to restore the game to their store. We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused players.”

The studio says that work continues on content material updates, and that gamers who’ve already bought Myth of Empires “can rest assured that we are confident we will bring you a better gaming experience.”
